Addressing violence against women and enhancing access to justice

Ugandan women face multiple forms of exclusion and subsequent marginalization due to
existing power relations deeply rooted in patriarchal norms, values and cultures. Women’s
lack of control over resources, control over their body and sexuality perpetuates vicious
cycle of violence against women increasing incidences of domestic violence, rape and
subsequently relegating to subordinate position in society.
As an active women’s organization working for women’s rights, CEWODE focuses its
programs on promoting women’s legal rights, increasing access to support and justice
mechanisms for victims of violence, improving access to sexual and reproductive health
services, campaigning against violence like “anti-rape campaign”, “stop child marriage”,
“economic, social and cultural rights campaign”. CEWODE partners with women’s
organizations and networks to establish and strengthen support and justice mechanism for
victims.
